Week 7

What a week! Though mine and Britney's worlds are still many miles apart, we are still proving through this diptych project that our approaches to photography shine similarly through our mornings. These are our images, mine on the left and hers on the right :)

Week 6

Going into this week I had low expectations because I was at the happiest place on earth and didn't want to be focused on diptychs vs finding princesses ;)

However, everything changed when I saw my images next to Britney's. Even though this was a tough week, seeing the similarities in colors/hues or the composition used when framing our still-life subject, how we each took an image of our little girls on the same day, and then how we ended the week by taking an image that included plants - It's amazing and makes my heart so happy. So, in spite of the negative thoughts that crossed my mind, this is a week that's close to one of my favorites. I absolutely love this little project of ours <3

Week 1

the beginning.

This week was insane. Britney and I are beyond humbled by the response and support we have received since we kicked off this project last Friday, and I think that response fueled our fire. She and I are both very passionate about this project and decided to add two more days. So, instead of only shooting twice a week before 10am, we're now shooting 4 times a week all before 10am.

I don't know if it was the response or what, but we have been totally "in sync" with our shooting and composition -- and I'm not just talking about the cute boy band from the nineties, even though our original name idea was very similar to another boy band around that time (no details at this time, but it had something to do with 98). Anyway, this week has left me utterly speechless and I swear to you we are not coordinating our images. Even my husband, who worked from home this week, witnessed our process and was blown away by the magical coincidences. Even as I type this and look back on the week, I sit here in awe shaking my head.

These are our diptychs from the week. I hope you enjoy! :)

ABOUT

ONE - This project simultaneously explores the similarities and differences between mine and Britney Wharton's photography. Each week we will take a picture on MTWTh before 10 a.m. from wherever we are of whatever we are doing. There are no prompts, no structure, and no rules. Our images will then be combined into a diptych and shared both here and on her blog for the next 52+ weeks.
My image will always be on the left and hers on the right.

SEPARATE -  In December 2016 we decided to collaborate on this project because we have similar approaches to photography and wanted to grow as photographers, using each other for motivation, encouragement, and critique. Britney and I became friends during the early stages of a 365-project in 2015 as we learned we shared very similar interests, a surprisingly common background as we grew up an hour from one another, had similar aged children, and photographic styles. She and I both share a passion for the 3-L's (light, life, and love) and aim to capture one, if not all, throughout our images.

MOMENT - Britney and I wanted to start this project as we saw random coincidences within our Instagram posts and asked ourselves what would happen if we did this for a year, how many random coincidences would there be at 750+ miles apart as she still resides in California and I'm in Utah? It may have been a pure coincidence that she and I both joined the same 365-project 2 years ago, but it is not a coincidence how our friendship led us to where we are today. Though our relationship has strictly been online, Britney has been an amazing friend throughout my photography journey and I am so excited to share this project with her. I cannot wait to see where this takes us.

I hope you enjoy our journey as much as we enjoy creating it.
